The purpose of this data set is to provide information on the vegetation characteristics of the Andrews Experimental Forest. The data was originally collected in the 1990's and has been updated over time. This particular version of the data has links to the original cutting unit numbers (on the original HJ Andrews Map). Note that many fields are not complete for the Andrews, and that some of the vegetation typing islumped into large polygons, particularly in unmanaged or old growth stands. The cutting units boundaries have been updated with LiDAR data. This database is suitable for linking to the original cutting unit database.
Vegetation map of the HJ Andrews, created by the Willamette National Forest using aerial photography, satellite imagery, and LiDAR. The data was compiled in 1997 and updated with 2008 LiDAR imagery.

Year of Origin for both natural and managed stands. The year of origin may indicate when a managed stand was certified as reforested. It does not take into account the age of seedlings if planted. Some units may have needed up to10 years to be certified. A value of 0 may indicate no-data.

predominant size class of trees MOMS - Mature and OverMature Survey (Willamette Natl Forest 1/91) was a stand condition mapping and old growth inventory project accomplished primarily by means of aerial photo-interpretation. Size class 5 from MOMS was redefined into size classes 5.1 and 6.1 using regression equations of crown diameter to predict size class. NOTE: THESE ARE VERY APPROXIMATE
